Fresh Griller, located on the corner of Chapman Ave. and State College Blvd., takes the spin of a Chipotle styled dining experience and combines Asian fusion in order to create a veggie lover’s feeding ground.
Walking into the restaurant during lunch time I was greeted by exposed sunlight and bright earth toned decor. Colored glass light fixtures suspended from the ceiling, glass jars on wooden tables, and grass written letters on the wall that says, “Feel Great,” made it feel very organic hipster friendly.
In a Chipotle fashion, the Fresh Griller staff moved your entree down a line of choices. Customers have the choice of either a bowl, salad, or wrap. Basmati, brown rice, kale salad, or spring mix starts the process followed by a choice of steak, tofu, or chicken. Next follows the sliced peppers and onions, sliced vegetables, or cucumber salad. Sauce is then added with choices ranging from Mediterranean hummus to Asian teriyaki sauce. Last minute toppings such cilantro, quinoa, bean sprouts, and avocado. If it was not for the sauce the fresh ingredients might seem too bland and plain, but this is for the mission to bring customers fresh food
My brown rice bowl in a cardboard like container consisted of chicken, assorted vegetables, green Aji Verde sauce, and bean sprouts. For about $8 this lunch meal was very satisfying, giving me a hearty portion to last me throughout the day and no shame for choosing this meal.
The staff was brimming with energy and customer service, helping with questions we had despite a long line during the lunch rush. There was a variety of seating inside and outside on the patio, all surfaces were clean, and WiFi was available.
The average college student who might not necessarily like a douse of vegetables for a meal and wants a cheap price would not enjoy this eatery, but might like a great cleanser meal for an unhealthy lifestyle of top ramen and Del Taco. If your hipster heart loves clean eating and you are searching for the perfect lunch spot, Fresh Griller is the place for you.
