New staff was added to the HIU community over the summer.

Stacey Gerhart is the new Director of Carrier Services. Gerhart was a counselor in Michigan and recently moved back to California. She graduated from Liberty University and has been a counselor for four year since.

“I love working with student,” She said, “I love helping students find their gifts and talents and passions and working with them on that.”

Also hired over the summer is Christian Andres the new Men’s RLC as well as a Professor of Education.

“I’m bringing my experience, my mess-ups,” Andres said. “Especially if students are stressed about their carrier or what they are going to do, I can share my experiences with them. I think the one thing that God is putting on my heart to do is use my ears and listen. Talking is powerful but listening is also powerful.”

Abigail Wilcox recently took on the role as the new Women’s RLC after she graduated from California Baptist University with a degree in Psychology and Christian Behavioral Science. She has also taken on the job of leading New Student Orientation.

Wilcox is also starting her graduate program in counseling and psychology to get her marriage and family license.

“I think it is my three years of experience in Residence Life that has equipped me for my new position as the Women’s RLC at Hope,” Wilcox said. “This has opened many doors for me to be able to share the gospel and the goodness and who Christ is and what he has done in my life.”
