In the coming weeks, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Orange County will be holding their 14th annual “NAMIWalks.” The goal of the 5 kilometer walk is simply to raise awareness, but Susan Adams, Development Coordinator of NAMI, had this to say:
“People walk for many different reasons, some walk to advocate for a life of quality and dignity, one without discrimination, for all those persons affected by mental illness… I walk to bring hope to those who are struggling and to let them know that there are resources out there to help.”
The HIU Marriage and Family Therapy Master’s Program will be sponsoring and participating in the walk in order to raise awareness of the Hope Counseling Center as a resource.
The event is open to all who want to participate and will take place Sat., Sept. 29, 9 A.M. at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
