The Royals have charged out of the gate as they undergo their fall campaign. After picking up a demanding 4-0 win against the Biola Eagles on Monday, Aug. 27, the excitement building in and around the team is almost palpable.
“We have a solid group of girls. Not just in soccer, but personality wise. We’re pushing each other. It’s not something we’ve ever really had before,” said Bree Gamez, a returning defender. “You can tell in everybody, we want it this year.”
The Royals’ dominance continued into their game against Benedictine University at Mesa, which saw a 3-0 final score on Saturday, Sept. 1. The barrage of shots taken by the Royals resulted in two own goals and a Leigha Williams strike that found the back of the net. The result guided them to a level record in GSAC. They later advanced to a 2-1 conference standing by battling to a 1-0 win over Sierra Nevada College on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Jessica Ramos scored off a set piece courtesy of a Williams corner and a Jade Perez assist.
Women’s Soccer will look to continue an impressive string of performances against Eastern Oregon University, currently ranked 25 in NAIA, on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 12 p.m.
