The Royals have charged out of the gate as they undergo their fall campaign. After picking up a demanding 4-0 win against the Biola Eagles on Monday, Aug. 27, the excitement building in and around the team is almost palpable.
“We have a solid group of girls. Not just in soccer, but personality wise. We’re pushing each other. It’s not something we’ve ever really had before,” said Bree Gamez, a returning defender. “You can tell in everybody, we want it this year.”
The Royals’ dominance continued into their game against Benedictine University at Mesa, which saw a 3-0 final score on Saturday, Sept. 1. The barrage of shots taken by the Royals resulted in two own goals and a Leigha Williams strike that found the back of the net. The result guided them to a level record in GSAC. They later advanced to a 2-1 conference standing by battling to a 1-0 win over Sierra Nevada College on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Women’s Soccer will look to continue an impressive string of performances against Eastern Oregon University, currently ranked 25 in NAIA, on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 12 p.m.
