With October upon us, it is once again time for pumpkin patches, Halloween prep, and fall baking. There are many options available in the area for students who want to find fun and cheap ways to engage in traditional fall activities and events.

In Orange County, there are several businesses that provide Halloween activities. In Downtown Anaheim on Saturday, Oct. 27, the Anaheim Fall Festival & Halloween Parade will be taking place at the Center Street Promenade. This is an event that has been an annual tradition since 1924 and spans the entire spectrum of fall activities, providing everything from haunted houses to pumpkin patches as well as live entertainment and food. More information about this event can be found online. Also, right across the street from our campus, Cal State Fullerton’s Arboretum will be hosting an event on “The Myth and Lore of Wolves” in the spirit of Halloween. This will be on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 4:00-5:30 PM for the price of $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

If Halloween is not your holiday, though, there are plenty of other autumn activities to participate in to celebrate the season. Visiting pumpkin patches or apple orchards is a great way to get out into the crisp fall air and to partake in the season’s fruits and vegetables. Pumpkins can be carved or painted, and both pumpkins and apples alike can be used for traditional autumn desserts, such as pumpkin cookies and caramel apples. Sunflower farms are also an enjoyable option for the season. Another way to get outside and enjoy the fall air is to have a bonfire or campfire, where you can enjoy the weather while roasting marshmallows.

Whatever your preferences are for the month of October, there are many activities and events to savor the spirit of the Autumn season.
